[TV Report=Reporter Kim Hyun-seo] YG’s new girl group Baby Monster is making a comeback with their first full-length album.
The first full-length album ‘DRIP’, as its title suggests, is a condensed crystallization of Baby Monster’s charm that fills the album and overflows. The nine tracks that were painstakingly composed further expand the colors of their music. The unprecedented promotion of pre-releasing the first verse of the included songs is also a part where YG shows extraordinary confidence in the completeness of the entire album.
In particular, this comeback is growing into a mega-scale project with YG’s full support. They are starting a dazzling rise with vigorous domestic and international activities, such as releasing their first full-length album at an unusually fast pace in the recent K-pop market, producing several music videos, and preparing for follow-up song stages early on.
Baby Monster has made a bold move with double title tracks. First, the title track of the same name as the album, ‘DRIP’, is an EDM-based dance track that combines Baby Monster’s confident attitude with YG’s signature hip-hop vibe. G-Dragon participated in composing the song, which also garnered attention. The addictive hook, dynamic beat, and strong bass sound come together to deliver thrilling thrills.
Another title song, ‘CLIK CLAK’, which was pre-released with a music video, left a strong impression as a prepared newcomer who inherited YG’s DNA, perfectly blending in with the original hip-hop genre. All members’ rap challenges also showed off their distinct voice tones and flows, making us realize their ‘all-rounder’ side.
The performances that will be shown after the comeback are also of great interest. ‘DRIP’ is expected to feature choreography that vigorously moves the body to the beat, hand movements that intuitively express the song title, and splendid group dance. ‘CLIK CLAK’ will continuously steal attention with point gestures that wittily interpret the lyrics. As they are double title songs, they are expected to capture everyone’s hearts with their different charms. Beyond their overwhelming live performance ability on stage, Baby Monster has once again blossomed musically through the expansion of genres. In addition to the two double title songs, the album will include ‘Love, Maybe’ where beautiful vocals stand out over the guitar playing, ‘Really Like You’ that stands out with the 90s hip-hop sensibility, and ‘BILLIONAIRE’ that brings out the Y808K sensibility with a heavy 2 bass and R&B sound.
This album also includes ‘Love In My Heart’ with a cheerful feel that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, ‘Woke Up In Tokyo (RUKA & ASA)’ that contains the hip-hop vibe of the Japanese members, the pre-released song ‘FOREVER’, and ‘BATTER UP (Remix) – Bonus Track’ that was greatly loved as the fan meeting encore song, allowing you to enjoy the upgraded musical world of Baby Monster.
Baby Monster’s wild march, befitting the meaning of their first full-length debut album, has begun. In addition to the double title tracks, the follow-up song ‘Love In My Heart’, for which a music video has been confirmed, has also been announced, and they will fill up 2024 by actively participating in various platforms such as radio, entertainment, and YouTube content.
The global expansion is also gaining momentum. The world’s largest streaming platform, Spotify, has selected them for Spotify’s ‘RADAR KOREA’ campaign, which discovers and highlights global rising artists, and they will be introduced to music fans around the world in various ways. Starting next year, they will hold their first world tour since their debut and take a new leap forward.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER will be operating the ‘BABYMONSTER 11st FULL ALBUM [DRIP] POP-UP STORE’ from November 1st to 10th at Basic Studio in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. In addition to visually realizing their musical world, various programs will be prepared for fans, providing a special experience.
