YG Entertainment announced that the group Baby Monster will release their second mini album, “WE GO UP,” at 1 p.m. on October 10. This marks their first new release in about three months since the digital single “HOT SAUCE” in July.
The album features four tracks, including the title track “WE GO UP,” as well as “PSYCHO,” “SUPA DUPA LUV,” and “WILD.”
The title track “WE GO UP” combines powerful brass sounds with a hip-hop rhythm and conveys Baby Monster’s determination to reach greater heights in their own unique style. Chiquita commented, “The moment I heard it, I was convinced, ‘This is our song,'” adding, “It’s the song that suits the stage best.”
The track “PSYCHO,” which was considered as a potential title track, stands out with its strong beat and distinctive hook. “SUPA DUPA LUV” is an R&B hip-hop song with a lyrical melody, delicately expressing the emotions of love. “WILD” is a country pop dance track.
Asa shared, “While preparing for this album, I once again realized how much I truly enjoy music and performing on stage,” adding, “We refined our expressiveness and emotional delivery to showcase new charms.”
The album is characterized by powerful rap and dynamic choreography. A key point is the movement in the chorus where members raise their arms to form the number 1. Special effort was put into the music video as well. Ruka said, “For the first time, I filmed an action scene. There are many intense moments, so it will be fun to watch.” Chiquita also mentioned, “There are many cinematic scenes, so viewers will be able to enjoy imagining as they watch.”
Baby Monster has released their third album just one year and six months after their debut. Previously, through their first world tour “HELLO MONSTERS,” they drew approximately 300,000 fans across 32 performances in 20 cities. Ruka commented, “I personally felt that music can connect us with the audience, even when language and culture are different,” adding, “I want to put on even better performances to repay the support we’ve received from fans around the world.”
