Baby Monster, whose general manager Yang Hyun-suk led everything from the beginning, officially debuted as a whole group of seven on April 1 this year. Even though they are rookies less than a year old, their global performance has proved to be an incredible indicator.
In fact, Baby Monster achieved a new record of first place in its first K-pop girl group debut album with a total sales of 401,287 copies with its first mini-first album [BABYMONS7ER]. The music video for the title song “SHEESH” recently achieved 300 million views on YouTube, and the choreography video also exceeded 150 million views, making it a remarkable standout in the global market. There are also nearly 7 million subscribers who are considered as indicators of fandom formation.
Amid growing interest in Baby Monster’s first full-length album, Yang said, “I really like this album,” giving us a glimpse of his extraordinary confidence in the tracks. Expectations for a comeback are expected to gain more momentum with the extraordinary promotion strategy unveiled in person on this day. YG’s unconventional attempt to pre-release songs in the album for about a minute, excluding title songs, every week starting this week has been added.
[DRIP] consists of a total of nine tracks. The first track is “CLIK CLAK,” and Yang explained, “It’s a hip-hop song with strong originality that YG has never shown.” Baby Monster’s new musical attempt, in which all seven members become rappers, opened the album’s first chapter.
The second track is the title track “DRIP” of the same name as the album. Director Yang said, “It’s a song that makes you want to dance regardless of age and gender. Please look forward to Baby Monster’s passionate performance,” he said, raising expectations by surprisingly announcing, “G-Dragon helped compose and completed good music.”
“Love, Maybe,” which features beautiful vocals on guitar playing, “Really Like You,” which features hip-hop in the 90s, “BILLIONAIRE,” which has a heavy 808 base with R&B sound and Y2K sensibility, “Love In My Heart,” which has a cheerful feeling that can be enjoyed by both men and women of all ages, “Woke Up In Tokyo (RUKA & ASA),” which contains the hip-hop vibes of Japanese members, the pre-released song “FOREVER,” and “BATTER UP (Remix) – Bonus Track,” which was loved as an encore song for the fan meeting.
This full-length album will be a huge project under the full support of YG. Usually, it is common to shoot one or two music videos for a full-length album, but Yang Hyun-seok said, “This Baby Monster’s album will shoot at least three music videos,” expressing his extraordinary affection and confidence in Baby Monster’s first album.
Regarding Baby Monster’s new choreography, Yang said, “For 28 years, all the choreography of YG artists, including Big Bang, 2NE1, and BLACKPINK, has been completely my job. So, it’s not hard, but in the case of Baby Monster, I’m planning a world tour. “There are times when it is a little too much to control the choreography of all the songs in the album at the same time, but I will make sure to produce good results,” he said, expressing Baby Monster’s willingness to expand its global base.
Furthermore, Yang said, “In the future, fans will be able to listen to Baby Monster’s new songs with excitement every week. I hope you will sympathize with me and enjoy the full-length album until November 1st,” he said, adding that the music video for “CLIK CLAK” will be pre-released on the 2nd to 3rd before the album’s release. The title song will not be released until the release date. I want to hide it well and let you hear it with an impact. We ask for a lot of support from global fans,” he said.
