BABYMONSTER (베이비몬스터), the group under YG Entertainment, has just unveiled a behind-the-scenes documentary titled “YG PRODUCTION EP.1 The Making of BABYMONSTER’s ‘SHEESH'” through YG’s official blog on May 9. The documentary provides an inside look at the intensive efforts and passion of both the YG producers and group members that shaped their debut album, “BABYMONSTER” (BABYMONS7ER).

The album was crafted under the YG umbrella, showcasing the collaborative freedom of numerous producers who share the YG DNA and vision. Producer CHOICE37 explained that the core value of YG’s production system is to support artists in finding and growing their unique colors. This ethos has been a guiding principle in the making of the album.
From the trainee phase of BABYMONSTER, producers have been closely collaborating with the members to unlock their potential. They have actively contributed ideas for the image and charm of the songs, creating ad-libs that enhance the tracks’ appeal, showing the musical synergy that their efforts have cultivated.

The debut title track “SHEESH” evolved from an initial organic composition to a polished final product through the collective efforts of YG producers. CHOICE37 and Sonny worked on the verses and pre-chorus, while LP focused on intensifying the drop section of the track.
Overall producer Yang Hyun-suk also contributed, particularly by adding variety to the second verse, enhancing the rap parts of members Asa, Luca, and Ahyeon, which have been well-received by music fans. Even the final hook of the song, which underwent numerous revisions without satisfactory results, was directly arranged by him, adding a whispering and grandiose atmosphere that elevated the track’s appeal.

The culmination of these efforts is BABYMONSTER itself, now a perfect seven-member synergy with the addition of Ahyeon, showcasing their honed skills flawlessly. Producers have praised the members, saying they “perfectly digest the intended emotions,” possess “amazing vocal tones,” and “deliver performances completed solely with their voices.”
YG plans to further showcase BABYMONSTER’s growing talents in upcoming releases. CHOICE37 expressed his commitment to fully utilizing the members’ skills and colors and thanked fans for their support, which makes their music production possible.

BABYMONSTER’s debut album achieved a new record for K-pop girl group debut album initial sales, selling 400,287 copies in just one week. The title track “SHEESH” has set records on YouTube, reaching 100 million views in just 10 days and 200 million views in 33 days, the fastest for a K-pop girl group debut song. The track has also consistently ranked high on the world’s largest music streaming platform Spotify’s daily song chart for 37 consecutive days.
