YG’s new girl group Baby Monster proved its global popularity with more than 6 million YouTube subscribers.
YG Entertainment announced on the 25th that Baby Monster’s official YouTube channel subscribers exceeded 6 million. It is a record in about a year and a half since the channel was opened, and it is a very fast growth considering that he is a rookie who has just made his official debut.
YouTube subscribers are significant as they are also seen as indicators of the formation of loyal fandom in the global music market. In fact, Baby Monster attracted 4 million subscribers by imprinting its presence among fans around the world with its unique skills even before its debut.
The trend has been even steeper since the official debut song “SHEESH” was released on April 1. YG explained that an average of more than 10,000 new subscribers are steadily flowing in every day. YG said, “At the same time as full-fledged activities such as music broadcasting began, the live performance capabilities of those who received favorable reviews from music fans seem to have driven the buzz and broadened the fan base.”
Like the next generation ‘YouTube Queen’, the number of views is overwhelming. There are four videos that have exceeded 100 million views, including music videos, and contents including high-quality performance videos and behind-the-scenes have surpassed 2 billion views in cumulative views, exceeding millions of views.
Meanwhile, Baby Monster will release its new song “FOREVER” at midnight on July 1st, spurring its popularity.
Currently, the first fan meeting tour “BABYMONSTER PRESENTS: SEE YOU THERE” is being successfully launched, and the biggest music festival in Japan, “Summersonic 2024” is also set to be launched in August.
